A powerful screening should change what the audience studies, supports, and builds afterward. The opening of AAFF 2026 offers exactly that kind of starting point.
The festival will honour Nii Kwate Owoo with its Legacy Award and screen You Hide Me, a work that confronts the removal and concealment of Afrikan cultural heritage. AAFF takes place October 16–18 at Ozone Cinema in Accra, with online participation.
Prepare by making room for continued study: books, films, teaching materials, and Black-controlled platforms that keep the questions alive after the credits. Cultural recovery depends on an audience willing to invest attention and resources in its own institutions.
